Cheney: Iraq Documents Show Saddam-Osama Tie
NewsMax.com ^ | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 03/30/2006 6:43:13 AM PST by Carl/NewsMax

Vice President Dick Cheney predicted Wednesday that thousands of boxes of documents captured from Saddam's Hussein's former regime will show that the Iraqi dictator had a much closer relationship with Osama bin Laden than was previously known.

"I think what we'll find as we get a chance to go through and analyze these documents -- there's some 50,000 boxes of them that are now being made available here over the next few months -- that we'll see a pretty complete picture that Saddam Hussein did, in fact, deal with some pretty nefarious characters out there," Cheney told Fox News Radio's Tony Snow.

Asked if he was referring to Osama bin Laden, Cheney replied:

"Yes, we don't know the full scale of it there yet, and I don't want to make a hard and fast prediction here. But there is reporting, obviously, that we've seen over the years that there was some kind of a relationship there between the Iraqis and Osama bin Laden."

An Iraqi intelligence document ordered released by the White House two weeks ago detailed a Feb. 1995 meeting between bin Laden and an Iraqi intelligence official that was personally approved by Saddam, where bin Laden requested help in conducting "joint operations" against U.S. forces then stationed in Saudi Arabia.

The document went on to note that Saddam agreed to help bin Laden with propaganda broadcasts into Saudi Arabia and that "the development of the relationship and cooperation between the two parties [would] be left according to what's open based on dialogue and agreement on other ways of cooperation."

The vice president stressed that nothing in the new documents uncovered so far links Saddam to the 9/11 attacks. But he added: "That's a separate proposition from the question of whether or not there was some kind of a relationship between the Iraqi government, Iraqi intelligence services and the al Qaida organization."

Maybe Bush should demand that these records be sealed for National Security reasons and publically state that the MSM should not get to see what is in them. That would get months of coverage and analysis of the documents, guaranteed.

Not a bad idea.

This forum has been weakened immensely by the emergence of the Hysterical wing of pretend conservatives.

One would think that anyone calling themselve "conservative" would realize that attacking the GOP and the President CAN NOT have any good result. The biggest danger we face politically is the ability of the faux conservatives to lead the gullible down the primrose path.

"Conservative" and "hysterical" should never be uttered in the same sentence. They are mutually exclusive, IMO.

That's why, when I see the mob hysteria going on here these days, I'm more than sure where it's coming from..........and it ain't US.

Since we are in an election year, I'm sure the hysteria will grow even more as the year progresses. The goal of the left is to divide and conquer........and the calls for 'impeachment' and the use of the term 'enemy' and 'incompetent' for our President are proof of sinister motives, IMO.

What we have to do is rise above it, and keep our discussions rational, and calm the waters that the Bush haters are continually stirring up. Civil disagreement is one thing. What these impostors are doing is something else altogether........and we can't let them destroy this forum.

I have said in other threads that if I were Soros I would do my damnedest to destroy FR and the best way that could be accomplished is by flooding the place with attacks on the President ostensibly from the right. His millions would be much more effectively spent doing this than by giving them to nutball Leftists whom everyone just laughs at.

If you have a smoking gun, push a smoking gun. It's that simple.

Ever since 911 we have been at war. Why give valuable smoking gun evidence to the old MSM establishment that is filled with moles, spies and anti-americans ? We did not need the smoking gun evidence to have Saddam removed. He is gone now. We are now positioned to handle the Iranian 'mullahs with nukes' issue at the precise time it needs to be dealt with. The real problem is who armed and used Iran and Iraq as surrogates in a quest for control of the worlds oil supply. Initially it was the French. France is burning right now and is not a threat. They are reaping what they sowed. After the French, the Russians game into the area. If connections can be made between Russia, Iranian Nukes, Iraqi WMD, the whole picture becomes very dangerous. With all this potential knowledge in hand, one could conclude that the old MSM is only good for disinfo right now. In summary, ever since 911 the MSM has been primarily been fed disinfo either from the Russians or from the US. IMHO.

Let me correct and expand the summary (got lazy fingers again).

In summary, ever since 911 the MSM has been primarily fed disinfo either from: the US; the French; the Russians; or the Islamic Terrorist Allies. This is a war. The first casualty is truth. Now we know why the line 'Old Europe' was coined by Rumsfield. The players were known before Iraq was invaded. Germany and France are basically the same. The germanic franks tribe conquered the gauls a long time ago.

This is so weak.

We invaded Iraq because, after 9/11, somebody's ass needed to be kicked.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were off limits, for reasons of state, and Saddam had been wearing a "kick me" sign for over a decade.

The idea of a serious, operational connection between the secular sand Nazi Saddam and Osama the dreamer is farcical.

Events in Iraq have not gone as planned. This is unsurprising, because our prewar knowledge of the tribes of Mosul, Mesopotamia, and Basra was shamefully poor.

Plan A was having flowers strewn in our path. Plan B has not gone so bad, for an improv.

But Saddam and Osama? Absurd!

Trying to link them up now, because events in Iraq are discouraging, is a sign of weakness.

The link is already been established. Click on search term PreWarDocs.

Insurgents are coming from Iran and Syria and killing these tribes. They are also playing tribes aginst each other. What is going on in Iraq right now is the opening stages of the Iran war.

Plan A was having flowers strewn in our path.

Provide 1 quote from from Pre War days were an administration official said we would have flowers strewn in our path.

You house of cards is no longer. We know who you were protecting. Give it up.

I am reading this and I am completely amazed that there is a debate amongst conservatives on this issue.

What the government could have done was hired and trained a whole lot of translators, then paid benefits and salaries until they retired to translate these documents. Instead, the "secretive" administration puts them out on the web for all to see. Anyone with the ability can translate them. Then the documents that make the most conversation can be looked at by the limited translators that the government already has and determine that the translations are correct or incorrect. This idea makes me use a phrase that I never thought would be applicable in my lifetime...

Efficiency in Government.

The MSM will only hold out for so long. Ultimately their greed for the "big story" will take hold and they'll report on the Saddam/Bin Laden connections. In the MSM, the REALLY BIG STORY trumps politics.

But Saddam and Osama? Absurd! They both had a very serious common interest in get the US out of Saudi. That motivation clearly would trump any philisophical anxiety they may have had. Clearly.

If you are not insulted by someone calling you a mindless automoton that attempts to assimilate others into equally blind obedience to a clearly fallible than I will certainly agree that you are a person who is far beond the ability for anyone to shame or insult. What would be the point? In fact, your statements have only reinforced the defintion of a Bushbot as an (sort of)individual incapable of actually thinking for themselves.

Looking forward to your talking points inspired response.

I am not insulted by being called a Bushbot (nor is anyone else I know), because it reveals nothing of the truth about me, but only the ignorance, and mindlessness of the 'insulter.'

Those of you whose minds are so feeble that all you can do is yell "Bushbot!" make us laugh. How can there be 'shame' when we are attacked by idiots without depth, or intellect? The shame is entirely upon those who level idiotic and false accusations........(that would be YOU, Herr Freiheit. The shame is on you).

We are creative, thoughtful people who are amused at your lame attempts to make us feel bad. You see, we function at an intellectual level first........rationally........as opposed to you, who depend on emotions to guide you. You project your own emotional weakness on us, who do not share that weakness.

It is we who think for ourselves, not our childish accusers, whose robotic insults come at us on a regular basis.

You should try thinking independently sometime. Create. Imagine. Explore. Grow.

Then when you do, you can be more like me. :)
