Whirlpool... they just last and last and last. I have the U.S made refigerator, range oven, washer and dryer and room air conditioner. The Whirpool microwave unit is made in China. They have yet to need repair.

And conversely, Frigidaire anything (except refrigerators) stinks.

HA! We have a Whirpool washer that din't last one year before needing MAJOR repair....Buying extended warranties is no longer a sales scam, it's a necessity.

An extended warranty is normally a waste of money. But if you buy a product with a troublesome reliability history, it makes sense to get one just in case. 99% of the time though, you'll never need to use the EW.

Does this mean they'll lay off the Mayag repair man?

Gordon Jump.

He died a couple years ago.
They jammed him into a Frigidaire freezer,
along with all the old WKRP episodes.

Good. I don't think I could eat Whirlpool Blue, and I certainly won't buy French. Danish, yes.

"Whirlpool Blue" sounds like a toilet cleaner. I'm of Danish origin (in part); how does the Danish blue compare to Maytag?

The repairman who came out to look at my disfunctional 1 yr old Whirlpool washer says that anymore a "EW" is a must....BTW, a run of the mill water heater was known to be good for around 20 yrs (no warrantee required) I have one 16 yrs problem free...The new improved top of the line, costs twice as much as the same model 2yrs ago, made in the same Mexican plant, comes with max 12 yr warrantee, middle 6 yr, base 4 yr.
