It's a new chapter in the Promised Land. We are becoming The Land That Better Keep Its Promises - or Else. Even promises that never were made. A half-million illegal aliens and friends and sympathizers have taken to the streets of late, demanding unhampered residency and employment. Their anger is being whipped up against an America that would fence its borders against more coming over, and require proper payroll-keeping and taxpaying from employers who hire them outside the law.
Why? In part because a new myth is gaining currency. It is that illegal immigrants, mostly of Mexican or other Hispanic origin, "built this country." Without them the economy would collapse.
"We are the motor of this nation!" a speaker harangued the 500,000 who marched in Los Angeles on Saturday. "We construct your schools! We cook your food!" Other thousands marched to this beat of indispensability in Phoenix, Denver and Milwaukee.
That people who entered the United States by stealth feel entitled to tie up U.S. downtowns with their grievances is nervy in the first place. But their slant on U.S. history is off the wall. No better clue might be needed that kids should be taught in English, fast!
It was religious freedom-seekers from England who began building this country, followed by natives of every part of Europe, Asia and Africa. And their descendants keep right on building it as e pluribus unum Americans -- "out of the many, one." Don't expect them to honor some dubious economic necessity to let everybody in.

What? So they all go home and people have to cut their own grass?
OK
Reconquista Armando Navarro 'Ethnic Studies' Professor at the University of California, Riverside Anti-American, Fifth-Column Menace. "Ladies and Gentlemen, what this means (the immigration bill) is a transfer of power, it means control, and it is the young people, the people who are now moving to develop an agenda for the twenty first century they are going to be in a position to really make the promise of what the Chicano movement was all about in terms of self-determination, in terms of empowerment, even in the terms of an Aztlan...."
I think if you check your history you'll find that Texas and the Southwest were bought and paid for, by treaty. Santa Anna may have made a bad bargain (that's why he's hated in Mexico to this very day), but the land was our by treaty as much as by conquest. Don't let the AZTLANians hustle you with their propaganda.
Faith and begorah! Everyone knows that the Irish built America!
I didn't express myself properly. Their ancestry is mainly indigenous, not European, you can see that by looking at them. Which makes the point, that the Spaniards, did not "wipe out" all the indigenous that they met. Mistreated them in many cases, but because of the presence and power of the Church they were kept from more egregious offenses, such as wholesale slaughter. Which is what I was addressing earlier.
As everyone can see by now, this whole immigrant march that erupted here this last week has been pretty well funded, aided and abetted by the Spanish language media. It's deliberate law breaking, denigration of Americans, & socialistic. We, the law abiding American people whose ancestors came here legally, assimilated, worked hard, and strove to obey the laws of this great country that took them in, would never think to do what these hooligans have done. They received cooperation too, from traitorous Americans and American companies who hire them, give them advice on how to stay here and in other ways cover for them. They also were aided by a government that won't do what it has to do from day one to stop them.
When you've got the likes of AOL linking to ACLU documents in Spanish and English that tell these illegal aliens all the ways they can avoid cooperating with lawful authority you know 'we the people' are not being listened to, 'we the people' are the butt of the joke, because companies take our money on one the one hand and cooperate with the illegals on the other.
They did not build this country, and this country does not depend on their continued illegal presence here in order to continue working day to day. What they are bringing more and more to small towns across the country is gang activity, violence and murder and mayhem.
I think when they say illegal immigrants built this country, they mean that prior to the late 19th century, there weren't any immigration laws. My ancestors didn't have to get in line to get a green card, etc. They just came here.
Immigrants didn't build this country?
Who did? Native Americans?
Ah, criminy! I got it wrong again, I meant these particular illegal immigrants did not build this country. I can't get anything right sometimes.
You're looking at the "foot soldiers". Look closer at the "leadership", and you'll see different faces. The upper echelons of the MeCha and other "brown power" organizations aren't "brown", they're largely white, and are the face of the Hidalgueria of Mexico, the same group which has plundered Mexico for their own benifit for centuries. Ask yourself, why?

Which is worse, wholesale slaughter, or virtual slavery? Hard to really draw a distinction there...

Well, I'd choose not to be slaughtered, for my part. One must believe that there is a certain redemption in suffering here on earth, offering the same suffering up to Our Lord, and choosing Life is the only alternative. I believe it is God who determines the day and hour when He chooses to call us home.
This is why Kyl/Cornyn would have been the perfect solution. Apply from your home country and come in legally. I have NO problem with LEGAL immigration, I have NO problem with guest workers, but it needs to be done properly.
We already have over 30 million of them here. The numbers are incorrect. Every year millions come here, yet the numbers stay at 12 mil. Don't it.
That means we will have 90 million here by the time they are happy...
We also purchased the land from Mexico. They gladly took the money now more than 100 years later, they want it back...
How about the French come back and demand the Louisiana territory be given to them... are we all willing to hand it over as well?
And where the heck are the rest of us supposed to go?
There are more than "racist white" people living here... there are people from every descent, so much for diversity, I guess we are planning on returning everything to Mexico...
