Here in the great Southwest, they are a definite reality.

And in my case, they are also my employers.

Relatives on my late dad's side were sitting around our front room, when my greatgrandmother, Granny, blurted out, "Quanah Parker was my grandfather." [The last great Comanche Chief.]

"No big thing," Granny shrugged, "He had twelve wives, and who knows how many children."

My mom used to shake her head, "The very first picture I have of you is you sitting on a ninety-two year-old Squaw's lap!" My great-great-grandmother, Quanah's daughter.

We're fadin off into the sunset...
