An American Indian Speaks Out Against Illegal Aliens

Dr. David A. Yeagley, an American Indian and direct descendant of the Comanche warrior Bad Eagle says it best:

America today is making the same mistake we Indians made nearly four centuries ago. America is letting in too many foreigners. And we Indians could end up losing this country all over again. It may come as surprise to many white people who have been brainwashed by the media to see Indians as the ultimate liberals, but there are few groups in America today who take a dimmer view of mass immigration than the American Indian.

The Comanches were one of the most intolerant of all Indian peoples. We had no use for anyone else, white, Mexican or Indian. When we came thundering down on the southwest plains, we took the land we wanted and ran everyone else off. We created the life we wanted, at the expense of other people. The white man did the same. Only he did it on a grander scale.

In many ways, Indians see the white man as a kind of adopted son -- naive, reckless and destructive, at times -- but nevertheless cut from the same warrior cloth as we were. We do not see black, Mexicans, Asians, Arabs and others in this light. These peoples may have their own virtues and traditions, but they have no history with us. They are strangers. If they want to rule us, they must conquer us the way the white man did -- on the battlefield, by force of arms. That is the only honorable way for a warrior.

The white man seems to have lost his spirit. We see that he is giving this country away to [illegal alien] others, and this fills our hearts with fear. For we are part of the land he is giving away . . . The white man must regain his warrior soul and take back his land! In that fight, I will stand by his side and offer whatever strength I have to ensure his victory!" (13)

I had not bumped into the clearances, but they appear to be after my ancestor's situation. He was captured at the battle of Dunbar in 1650, while the clearances appear to be from the mid 1700s. I will definitely research them. Thank you.

The Scots Irish of the American South (notice, not "scotch," that's a lovely drink, but not a people) have given the US the highest number of  Medal of Honor winners and also spawned the people who clung to the "Stainless Banner," the Stars and Bars of the Confederacy.  Did you know that the Confederate Battle Flag is based on the Cross of Saint Andrews?  That is the flag of Scotland.  Nothing remains unblemished forever in human history.

I have a (hidden) sneaking fondness for the Stars and Bars, but will not fly it to avoid offending others.  I cherish the Flag of Scotland as a (so far) untainted relic of those things that were good about that culture.  Read Guns Of The South by Harry Turtledove and concentrate on the character (and CHARACTER) of Rober E. Lee in that book to understand my emotional response that that issue.

I am in agreement with you there. But don't forget our own Lone Star flag here in TX is a descendant of the Bonnie Blue Flag "that bears a single star."

We who proclaim the worth of some Southern cultural values carry a heavy burden of guilt and shame. That is not to say that the "damn Yankees" don't have their own shame to expurgate over precisely the same issues (several Union states remained slave holders throughout the "Second American Revolution," not to mention the portion of the slave trade that financed the New England merchants in their demonic triangle) and the nations of the world that claimed "high moral ground" for outlawing slavery within their own territories mostly failed to outlaw the practice in their colonies that depended on it until well after our own Civil War was well decided.

There are nuances and vagaries of history that so complicate these issues that there can never be a "correct" version of this story.  It can safely be said that the conventional wisdom is caca, however.

So far, the Lone Star Flag has successfully avoided the stigma that has consumed the Star and Bars.  There is enough "other" history to Texas that it is not yet tainted with the Confederate's "great sins" but in this current climate of resurgent Mexican claims to the lands ceded in the Mexican American war I don't expect that to last.

I know, I cringe at what has happened to the Stars & Bars. It's just not right. I have many positive feelings when I see it and have a few things that contain the image. I don't think "slavery" when I see it at all. But, of course, I *wouldn't.* (So *they* say.)

Sort of like the word "plantation" and what Hillary turned that into - or stepped (and fetched) it up to, anyway. I still think of plantations as beautiful "farms" with lovely grounds and stately trees and lots of moss. Sometimes, a Caribbean tropical "farm" with banana trees and a lovely main house.

People see what they want to see, I suppose. If the Lone Star or Bonnie Blue comes under fire, we'll "blame it on Florida," since it was theirs first, lol. No, wait, a Texan would *never* admit that. I guess we'll just sew us up some Bonnie Blue do rags and carry our "banners high" into the street war, if need be.

So they say, it wasn’t a walk in the park when they ran into the warrior tribes, Apaches,Navajos,Souix. Go to their reservations today, you’d have a hard time looking for Missions, because were not gonna easily conform to Catholicism, like the southerner tribes.

Google Navajo,Apache,wars with Spaniards you’ll find a lot of interesting things, the Conquistadors only conquered the smaller tribes and learned to stay away from the bigger tribes, the tribes finally settled down after the US military came thru, and we didn’t go down without a fight.
