I am not an everything will work out ok Pollyanna. I am a we have to do what is best with the reality on the ground and work with it in a positive way Pollyanna.
I would say that you are correct in areas near the border. In my state, while there are pockets of that, for the most part the rapidly growing Hispanic population is pretty much assimilated within a generation or so.
My town has a high percentage of Hispanics. I have no idea how many of them are here "legally" or how many have parents who were not here legally. All I can say is that in general they are an asset to our community.
So, call it empirical evidence.

Anecdotal is a more appropriate term than empirical.
In a generation or two? So 25 years or so is good enough for you? You are not only a pollyanna, you are out of your mind.
