RNC Memo Warns GOPers Not To Distance Themselves From Bush
The Hotline (National Journal) ^ | March 28, 2006

Posted on 03/28/2006 7:52:53 PM PST by Karl Rand

Republican pollster Jan van Lohuizen, in a memo written for RNC chairman Ken Mehlman, warns that if members of Congress try to drive a wedge between themselves and Pres. Bush, it'd be akin to adding weight to an anchor. GOpers are "W Brand Republicans" whether they like it or not. And van Louhizen, who has polled (often secretly) for the Bush White House under the RNC aegis for years, is worried about low turnout.

Time Magazine first reported on the memo this weekend, but the full text is below.

So the Whine All the Time Choir advocates replacing a glass 70% full of pure water with a Democrat glass 100% full of the bile that they claim to loath. That is so politically stupid and childish, it raises serious questions as to just whose side the Perpetually Whiners really are on. It would seem we have some pseudo Conservative DNC mouthpiece "Freepers" who have attended the Movon.org seminars about "Infiltrating Conservative Websites"

Oh not to worry Jan and Ken, the way I see this illegal immigration sellout shaping up, this child is about to distance (as in, a very long distance) himself from the RINO herd altogether.

And how many conservative postitions has Bush sold out?

Education. Spending. Entitlements. And now illegal immigration.

Four big honking positions. We accepted the first three. But amnesty was always positioned as the last straw. And now Bush and the GOP apparently think they can ignore warnings over such.

They will be sorely mistaken.

The President should immediately stop driving a wedge between his supporters, and his STOOPID POSITIONS on issues such as port security, and illegal aliens.

Thank you.

"You can join the Michael Moore/Cindy Sheehan party, but you'd fit better over at the DU."

My sentiments exact;y. I would like to see a lot more done before the elections. Things a lot of people seem to need to see done, so they will not stay home on election day.

"And how many conservative postitions has Bush sold out?"

Fiscal responsibility, law enforcement, elimination of Federal interference in education, elimination of Federal social welfare, nation building, national security (begins at the borders)...

I don't know, I lost count...

Republicans have proven that when they control the House, the Senate, and the Presidency that they will drive the country over the cliff with support for illegal immigration and uncontrolled spending.

I prefer to have President Cheney with a chastened Republican minority in the House, that remembers WHY they got the boot.

Lots of Bushlickers here who like the illegal invasion of the Mexican mob.

We're in Iraq because "it's better to fight them over there than it is to fight them here". But because our borders are wide open, they can fight us here by simply walking in with whatever weapons they like.

Education: he ran on that platform.

Prescription drugs: he ran on that platform

Spending: I agree with you

Illegal immigration: If Bush can get the borders under control, which he said he would do, then we can talk about a worker program (not amnesty). that's the way it will shake out, I believe.

To win the Super Bowl the team must play together.
To finght the Dems/ Libs, et al we MUST STOP the in-fighting and get behind "Our Leader". We can have only one leader and he is the one that was ELECTED TO BE THE potus.
I, for one, am sick and tired of all these wanna-be's that know what the POTUS should do. If they know so DAMMMMMN much they should have run and won the election for themselves.
If WE WANT TO WIN "BACK THE PRESIDENT, OR SHUT UP"

Whether or not he ran on those platforms, both are still a sell-out of long-held conservative positions.

Illegal immigration: If Bush can get the borders under control, which he said he would do,

Said? It's not about saying, it's about doing.

He's the president. It's his job to GET the borders under control. To ENFORCE the laws against employers hiring illegals.

He has done little with either.

And even today, McClellan refused to say whether or not Bush would veto a bill that dealt only with border security. Which undermines your reasonable position that we secure the borders first and then consider a guest-worker program.

Fiscal responsibility - I agree. He RAN on education reform, not elimination of the Dept of Ed. and he RAN on prescription drugs for seniors. Can't call that a sellout. He did what he said, just like he almost always does.

If you are against the war, too bad. Support the troops and the mission now that it is under way. Or do you believe the NY times that its a quagmire?

One seat away from controlling the US Supreme Court AND the Congress and The Presidency for the 1st time since 1932 and the Whiners would throw it all away because President Bush and the Congress don't do ONLY what they what when they want it. Throw away 70% good to get 100% bad just at the moment of Conservative victory that been 25 YEARS in the builiding. That is just too politically stupid to take seriously.

Doodlelady's little deisgnation of these people as "DICC"-s (Democrats in Conservatives' Clothing) is very apt for these faux conservatives, who are either useful idiots of the Dems or are indeed purposefully trying to "divide and conquer" by setting conservatives at each others throats.

The GOP Congress under Gingrich acted like Conservatives while Clinton was in the White House. Maybe a DNC Congress will cause the Bush Administration to act like small government Conservatives for a change. El-Rushbo has said this time and again.

Bush-bots need to understand that Conservatism is about steadfast principles, not a waivering political party or pandering personality.

Ever see what happens when the QB disses the offensive line?

They let him get sacked really hard.
