Oh crud, and I neglected to notice that you were responding to the ARTICLE, rather than to comments written by SmithL.

I owe you both a big apology—and promise you that I'll read more closely next time. Please forgive me for the unnecessary interjection! I remain,

Respectfully,

Boy, I turn my back for a couple of hours, and look what happens.
: )

I think we're all in agreement here. Re-Read the entire article and I think you'll find that Debra Saunders is spot-on with her analysis.

LegacyMedia is making these protests seem like there will be a backlash against people who want to protect our borders. After all, they claim that there was a backlash against Pete Wilson -- but there wasn't. There was just a lot of noise from the open-border crowd, and he got reelected.

Debra clearly understands the difference between legal and illegal immigration, but like many of us, is afraid that yesterday's Senate action tries to erase the difference. She's against amnesty and open borders.

Any backlash will be from those of us who don't want the illegal invasion. I'm also convinced that the noise in the street this weekend is only serving to remind voting AMERICANS that we DON'T want open borders.
