What is a DD-242?

It is one of the accepted forms for verifying eligibility to work, seperation from active duty from the US Armed forces.

Oh. I thought it was something different - a document that was peculiar only to the Coast Guard since they're the Department of Transportation; which leads me to ask why they get a DD (Department of Defense documents). I believe what you're referring to is the DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty). or is there really a DD-242 as well?
