A majority of the Dallas City Council supports either an immediate or eventual full repeal of the Wright amendment as long as some gates at Love Field are eliminated, District 10 representative Bill Blaydes said Monday.
"There is a general consensus across the council that we're willing to give up some of the gates, and the mayor seems to be buying into it," Mr. Blaydes said.
But most of his colleagues declined to take a public stand on the flight restrictions on Monday.
And Mayor Laura Miller, who as early as last fall suggested demolishing the gates in the former Legend Airlines terminal as a compromise to facilitate repeal, said the plan is just one option, and it's hardly a done deal.

Why we still have the Wright Amendment, years after Jim Wright was run off in discgrace, is beyond me.
What part of "fair competition" and "Free trade" is it that our congeressional delegation doesn't understand?
And why is Michael Burgess a supporter of the Wright amendment? Did American buy him off?
