There are laws on the books right now that if enforced would make a dent in illegal immigration. Passing bills is not enforcing laws. The fact that there are currently laws in place destroys your argument that we are currently in a state of Amnesty.

So, maybe instead of me needing a dictionary, you need a review on how bills become laws, and how laws are enforced?

"Passing bills is not enforcing laws."

No truer words and it applies to gun laws - Congress is always ready to pass a law for whatever real or imagined crisis of the day, but enforcement?

Congress puts enforcement in stranglehold fine print.

I agree with you that there are existing laws that could make a dent in illegal immigration, but the Congress needs to take action to push the President to act. Also your statement, "The fact that there are currently laws in place destroys your argument that we are currently in a state of amnesty" doesn't make sense. You can only receive amnesty if there are already laws on the books which you are breaking.

My point is that if Congress doesn't use its power to push the president on to enforce the laws, then they are guilty of acquiescence to granting a de facto amnesty. Congress needs to pass a bill or a resolution to spur the President to action or at least make it clear that they are not pleased with the President's lack of enforcement of the law.
