Immigration Reform Markup
Sen. Arlen Spector (R-PA) chairs a full Judiciary Committee meeting to mark up pending legislation including a draft bill on comprehensive immigration overhaul. Also, the committee will vote on a bill to televise Supreme Court proceedings and judicial nominations to federal courts.
MON. ON C-SPAN AT 10AM ET
OH>..DEAR...Specter is on the floor BRAGGING about what they did today!!!
What a hoot!
I thought their manner and attitude was absolutely insane, unprofessional, inappropriate...arrogant.
Feinstein was whining "I hope I'm not mixing apples and oranges" (paraphrasing here), alluding to how "tired" she was. Oh gag me.
And of course, Fat-ass Kennedy is always wiping his brow by this hour anyway...we're cutting into Happy Hour.
These are the apathetic (insert verb here) that are making decisions over our lives every day.
Kyl was the only one there, at the end, that showed any effort or interest of getting it right. I'm sure he's pissed, as most of us are.
Don't know ... I wasn't listening
Though Specter is up now talking about the immigration bill
Funny they through that one out there last huh?
No. Listening to C-SPAN2 and looking up baseball schedule.
They are discussing Justice Scalia's speech...some are calling for him to now have to recuse himself...and Roberts is already OFF the case of Hamden.
My Hamdan vanity is "on top of it."
And NOW the Hamden case could go 4-4 tomorrow...YIKES!
The argument is tomorrow, no telling when a deciusion might be rendered. A tie leaves things status quo (Hamdan lost in the DC Circuit).
Not funny, it passed by a fat margin.
He's right
So who won? I'm at work so I can't watch the Thread. Did Hillary or any other pro-illegals Senators invoke Christianity again?

Sessions was complaining all day that there wasn't enough time...
Specter just said that Frist called a meeting to start now..I wish THAT would be televised.
Thanks...didn't hear that part...
Did you listen to Specter's speech just now???
*threw
Funny meaning blood boiling of course.
More or less. Didn't have much substance to it - or didn't seem to. More or less recapitulated the effort of the Judiciary Committee during the day, and self-congratulatory that the Committee got a bill out "in time."
I noticed that he was called off to a 6:30 meeting with Senator Frist to work out some details regarding how to carry the bill forward in the Senate, from here.
I'm wondering if the Lobbying reform bill came up today.
On Brit's show....right now.
Major Garrett said that Frist had said that unless the bill coming out of the Judiciary Committee had the support of a "majority" of the Republican members....he would STILL put up HIS bill in the Senate...
He feels that the product done today does NOT meet the standard he set...so he called a meeting in his office to tell Specter that...Specter feels that it will all be worked out on the Senate floor...
but Frist says the priority to so do something to secure the borders FIRST..and wants to proceed with HIS bill..
Of course, he is in his office now...we will SEE if he has the cojones to stand up to Specter, Graham, DeWine, Brownback...who are all backing the McCain/Kennedy bill.
What do you think about HATCH not only no being there...but PASSING on everything??
Yeah - I knew what you meant. I was just adding that besides the sleight of hand in bringing the amendment up "last," which was bad enough, the darn thing passed easily. That tells me that the Senate is inclined to entice people into the country with the promise of a reward.
We already have (legal) means for granting citizenship to legal aliens who serve honorably in our armed services - Durbin is giving the same reward to people who manage to get a high school diploma and an Associate Degree.
This ploy by the appeasers and traitors is disgusting.
I hope, when it gets to the floor, we'll see some hope of resurrection.
