It's sad that you do not see the self-contradiction here.
You have concluded that "Muslims" (all of them?) "do not want to be like Westerners" and "prefer Islam over Freedom". Yet at the same time you seem to understand that Muslims who speak out might be killed by their neighbors for doing so.
So on what basis have you concluded things about what Muslims "want"? On the basis of the coerced behavior of a majority of them.
That's like concluding that prison inmates do not like sunlight because if they did why would they spend so much time indoors?
It's more like "groupthink."

I categorize Muslims into 2: Muslims and Muslims in name only.
I do not know what the actual breakdown percentages are, but I do know the MINO's have little influence, even though in actuality they may be the majority, especially in a country that was under secular rule (like Iraq) for so many years.
But since the Muslims in power appear to be true (jihadist) Muslims, those are the ones we have to deal with, and gear our policy towards.
