What a miserable and sad way to go. Rabies is nasty stuff, especially for humans. I can't imagine dying in this manner after a surgery.
There isn't enough information here. How does a human donor pass rabies to an organ recipient? Can humans be infected but asymptomatic "carriers"?

life is HARD folks......no one is immune to life.....this is very sad for the family but no one, anywhere, is going to be completely safe and this case proves it......an extremely rare situation that could not be predicted......
IF the cost of transplants goes dramatically higher because of increase testing and liability issues, will fewer actually get the transplants?
