Teenage golfer Michelle Wie couldn't believe she played golf with one of her role models, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

"I was like, 'Oh my God, it's the secretary of state. They put me in charge of driving her around" in a golf cart, Wie told Time magazine for its issue on newsstands Monday.

"I was like, if I crash, the secretary of state goes down with me," the 16-year-old Hawaiian high school junior said.

When asked what she thought of radio host Rush Limbaugh calling her a "triumph of marketing," Wie, the No. 2 ranked woman golfer, said, "Huh? Who's that?"

Give her a couple years on the LPGA so that her game can mature, she's able to hit the ball comparatively with some of the shorter male hitters.....

If she ever gets a short game, it's on.

If she doesn't, she's another Annika Sorenstam.

Michelle Wie already drives just under (about 5 yards) the AVERAGE PGA player. She's six foot tall and really smacks it. BTW, her fairways hit average is significantly higher than the PGA average.

I wonder though, does she have a short game to compliment it?

My guess is that before her 21st birthday she will make the cut at a PGA event.

Michelle almost won yesterday at the Nabisco...... one stroke away. It was a great event! The winner, Karrie Webb, had to eagle the last hole to win.
