THIS WILL BE A TOUGH WEEK FOR THE PRESIDENT . . . The "armchair presidents" will be out in force pontificating and attacking relentlessy re: immigration. [FYI: The President will attend a naturalization ceremony tomorrow and a special conference in Mexico later this week . . . I can hear the caustic/caddy remarks already!]
For my own sanity, I plan to ignore all areas of FR except the DOSE. I also plan to ignore all of the radio talk shows and blogs with the exception of Rush -- Rush is the only pundit who can discuss COMPLEX/CONTROVERSIAL issues with reason and reasonableness!
FYI: Rasmussen's JA ratings for the President have increased by a net 8 (almost 9) points from last weekend . . . 44/45% approve 55% disapprove (-11) vs 40% approve 59% disapprove (-19) . . . The President's speeches/press conference last week worked (despite higher gas prices and immigration 'noise'). HOWEVER, I do expect this week's nastiness to send the ratings downward again . . . NOT TO WORRY . . . the President is going to do what he feels is right, not what he feels will poll well . . . Like Lincoln, Churchill, Reagan, and other leaders before him, he will take the short-term pain for long-term gain (for our country) . . . history will remember him fondly!

PREDICTION: Tomorrow, Hannity will make one of his insufferable "I'm just being intellectually honest" rants during which he will ask: What would Reagan do (about immigration)? . . . Hey Sean, we don't have to wonder; we KNOW what Reagan DID . . . Reagan signed a blanket AMNESTY bill; something President Bush will not do.
[However, like President Reagan, President Bush is a pragmatist who is simply trying to find a rational/workable method for dealing with the 10-12 million illegals who are already in this country . . . I wish him Godspeed!]
I'm really going to have a tough week. I generally support Bush's approach to immigration, and I normally count on Tony Snow to have the best researched and calmest discussion about "hot button" issues.
But the local station that carried him changed over to a Spanish language station last Fri.
Bummer!
Deb, for my sanity I have pretty much taken a sabbatical from politics and most news. I pay attention to the Dose and the AI thread. That's about it.

LOL...I had to laugh at this...this is typical Sean...I am sick and tired of hearing that *what would Reagan do* line...I don't listen to him like I used to...
I'm with you...or I should be.
I keep breaking my resolve and reading threads that make me mad. Everything makes me mad.
Even the book we're reading for Bible Class makes me mad.
How sick is that? Has anyone read The Dream of God by Verna Dozier?
You are so right about Rush. I've gotten ticked at him occasionally, but he is the only consistently rational voice, although others are fun, like Mark Levin's schtick with the liberal callers and Laura Ingraham--have to give her some kudos for her appearance on the Today show and sticking it to the media.
Oh, then I guess I can change my tagline.
