US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld brushed off calls for his resignation and said he had no plans to step down.
"I'm hard at the job, working hard, and getting up every day and thinking what we can do for the troops and the wonderful people who serve our country," he told reporters ...
Rumsfeld also was asked about a New York Times column by Maureen Dowd, who said Rumsfeld was being treated at the White House as "an eccentric uncle."
"If you believe everything you read in Maureen Dowd, you better get a life.

In other news today, Maureen Dowd says that she has stopped beating her lesbian lover...
He's a west coast vibe.
The only news in this piece is a reminder in the uniformly partisan nature of our major press.
We are in the process of growing new communications media, and as we do we are all starting to ignore these people more and more. Their monopoly isn't completley broken, but its started to crack.
RUMSFELD: You like to repeat all that stuff dont youon camera?
Did you get it? Lets make sure you got it. He love that is stuff.
Its a sure way to get on camera.

He's effectively using American military power to kill terrorists, (the lib's freedom fighters), and win the war against islamofascism. The troops also like him.
Does Rummy have a form letter for this biweekly statement?
And, then there was Rumsfeld to Barbara Starr, CNN Pentagon reporter:
"I'm rather old fashioned, I like to engage my brain before
my mouth."
Priceless! Oh, how they hate Mr. Rumsfeld!

Some things are not knowable, there are things we know, we know; there are things we think we know and there are things we know we don't know... A great Rummy explanation for events in Iraq.
LOL, I love how he answers questions. Priceless!!!!
Donald Rumsfeld -- the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Tom Daschle is saddened, deeply saddened.
He's a man who isn't interested in kissing the ass of media and hand wringers.
Compare him to the sec of def for clinton and you have your true answer.
I am a major Rumsfeld fan. I just finished a book about his management style "The Rumsfeld Way"...he sounds like a bastard to work for, but he gets results, and doesn't get bogged down by intra-political BS.
That is the person I want running our DOD, and even our country. Too bad he won't run for president. He is a true patriot. Check out my links at my homepage:

And Andrew Sullivan is .....don't even want to speculate
If President Clinton had said this, everyone would laugh.
