In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. My Bush Epiphany By Lawrence Auster

Some food for thought.

I'm apparently in complete agreement with Auster. Who forced their king to sign the damned Magna Carta? The very modern notion of freedom with responsibility to the law was recognized by the English Enlightenment. Rule of law and notions of freedom coming from the Creator and not the king, country, or Church are distinctly missing from Latin cultures. Moreover, many Latin immigrants are trained to be anti-gun by their oppressive leaders. We're being invaded by a culture far different from ours, far more subservient. How long before it makes us more democratically subservient?
