If you are an "immigrant" you have been approved, and are not here illegally.

Wrong. An "immigrant" that does not follow through on the requirements for citizenship within the proscribed time-frame, fails to notify of an address change, or a criminal conviction; becomes ILLEGAL. As they should. Even though they were approved from the get-go. It would appear that the Borax Queen has not met or sponsored any recent legal immigrants. And please verify that the 19th word on page 1 of your US Passport is "permit".

That's funny - if you only knew. I only understand the old-fashioned sense of the word and not know anyone who "overstayed." At any rate, although I find it bizarre and didn't know that is how things are interpreted (I also was enlightened tonight that "immigrants" do not necessarily need to learn English), my original point was about the words in this article:

...that would build more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border and make helping illegal immigrants a crime.

Saying the word "immigrants" here implies that at some point, they applied for paperwork? Not all 20 - 25 million people here illegally have/had visas or are considered "immigrants" - even by the definition you laid out, are they?
