Are the neocons losing it?

William Kristol of the Weekly Standard now demands the firing of Donald Rumsfeld. William F. Buckley, whose National Review branded the anti-war right "unpatriotic conservatives" who "hate" America, now calls upon Bush for an "acknowledgement of defeat."

But it is a March 20 essay in the Wall Street Journal that suggests the neocons may be coming unhinged. Written by Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes.. calls on Bush to fire press secretary Scott McClellan, chief of staff Andy Card, political adviser Karl Rove, National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Treasury Secretary John Snow – and Vice President Richard Cheney.

"The trickiest issue is how to handle Karl Rove," says Barnes.

That Bush is in trouble is undeniable. But his people are not Bush's problem. His policies are. It is these policies, not his advisers, that have given us huge deficits, 12 million illegal aliens, a trade deficit running at $800 billion a year and a no-win war that is bleeding our country.

If Bush should follow Barnes' advice and throw his most loyal people to the wolves as a PR stunt, he will have earned their lasting contempt, and that of the country. For all will know he was scapegoating them for his own failures – failures that come of having listened to the neocons who are even now slipping out of camp, rehearsing alibis and blaming Bush for not heeding their brilliant advi

Isolationism is no longer an option. Sigh. We'd better start acting like the world's super power because that's reality. Hadrian's Wall collapsed because barbarians were coming in, they wanted Rome. Looks like history repeating itself.

Conservatives don't call it each other "reactionaries" or "fascists". Thats what liberals do.

I'm not afraid of calling a spade a spade......

and Pat is no conservative....

he is a merely a born-again media whore who likes the sound of his own voice.

Another Recycled joke.

But still funny!

Any comment on the article?

You mean like the fact that it starts out with a lie in the second paragraph (that Barnes wan't all those people "fired")?

Well, it is a rather stark misrepresentation, but no one is going to read the article.

Thread-A 'Third Term' For Bush

Aopinionjournal: 'Third Term' for Bush Condi Rice, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove need new jobs.

IMO McClellan should go. He’s ineffective. He’s fired. Of course only a “neocon” could come to that conclusion.

Hadley, Snow and Card get replaced. No word on what happens to them. Yeah, turned on big time.

Now to the bad stuff.

Cheney steps down to anoit Rice as the 2008 frontrunner. Fired, they’ve turned on him. And moves to head defence, which does mean Rumsfeld has to be moved somewhere, or retire. Yeah, the neocons have turned on Cheney and Rumsfeld. How about Condi, she’s a neocon.

Rove, aaaaaahhhhhhh. He switches places with Melman, “fired” by the neocons to run the Republican Party. Which puts him in an excellent position to manage the 2008 campaign. The neocons have turned on him. On Melman, a neocon, too.

Neocons, replacing neocons. If it happened, Pat would be howling at the moon about the neocons.

The more obvious question, beyond who cares about Pat’s opinion on the topic beyond his Patsies, who gets so excised about an editorial Fred Barnes writes in the WSJ. Or what William Kristol says. They aren’t exactly the driving forces of the Republican Party.

"If that's your convoluted way of asking me my opinion of Pat and Jews, imo he's a Jewobsessive of the classic Joe Sobran varity, as I suspect are you. The fact that he's employed by Jewish TV execs, whatever that means, not withstanding"

Sorry Uncle Leo, I forgot it was you.

I see you still have your smear machine (see "Jewobsessive") up and running. Too bad you can't open your mind to facts, but if you want to obsess and hate Pat Buchanan, that's OK with me.

I don't doubt your honesty, just your conservatism.

The best speech I had ever heard up to then was Ronald Reagan's acceptance speech at the 1980 Republican Convention.

He said everything that I was feeling.......

about government regulation, business, national security, etc.

When you live in a great country, you strive for great things.

After all.....

"we are Americans!!"

Smear machint?

Moran, those are Joe Sobran's words, describing himself.

A matter of pride.

Unless you have something relevant, *uck off.

Calling me "Jewobsessive" - see above - is typical of your smear technique.

Your comment on Sobran is lost on me. Who is Joe Sobran? The topic is Pat Buchanan and his column of March 2006.

Sorry, to bring you into the 21st century and talk about an American problem, I'm sure you'd be happier discussing WW II or the Spanish Inquisition.

Moron, a fitting description of one who knows not of what he speaks, Joe Sobran is a well known paleo, like Pat dismissed by the neocon Buckley. Shocked you don't know who he is

Jew obsessive is how he described himself. See a problem, see how the Jews are involved.

His obsession, Pat's, and likely yours.

Yes, that's a characterization from one of the Nazi tribe members.

As to Sorry, to bring you into the 21st century and talk about an American problem, I'm sure you'd be happier discussing WW II or the Spanish Inquisition. , I get the "American problem", dual loyalty thing.

See my last comment and *uck off.

I've certainly seen Buchanan described as an antisemite. But it's a word that is very seldom defined by those who wield it against him. -- like "racist", in Jesse Jackson's vocabulary, the failure to define makes it easier to use against people for vague and unspecified reasons.

How do you define the word, "antisemitic"? Does opposing the Iraq war make one "antisemitic"? If so, why? And if so, does that mean Pope John Paul II was antisemitic, because he opposed the Iraq invasion as vehemently as Buchanan did.

Pat is for American citizens first and that drives those who aren't hysterical. Neocons are just cross-dressing neocoms who have infiltrated the Republican party, as their predecessors infiltrated the Democrat party, as their vehicle to control the world.

When communism/Democratic party collapsed, they changed horses to conservativism/Republican party. Now Barnes, Kristol, et al are looking for a new horse - maybe McCainism.

Nice. BTW, You're the one bringing up "jews" and "anti-semitism" all the time .

I wish you'd write about the points Pat made in the column. However, being Uncle Leo, you constantly go off-topic into your favorite subjects. You do this on every Pat Buchanan thread.

You certainly like to smear and insult your fellow FReepers. Given all the so-called "anti-semites" you are constantly uncovering, I'm amazed you're still here. As I said before, I think you're intelligent man, but simply incapable of rational thought on certain subjects.

I read some of pat's works, "Death of the West", and "A Republic, Not an Empire". I define the author of those books to be racist, and Anti Semitic. I am not going to go into a synopsis of these books, but if you have not read them, you certainly should.

To read them and come away thinking pat is enlightened, and not the things he is accused of being... would be impossible IMHO.

Websters states:

anti-Semitic: 1. Having or showing prejudice against Jews: disliking or fearing Jews and Jewish things. 2. discriminating against or persecuting Jews. 3. of or caused by anti Semitism.

anti Semitism: 1, prejudice against Jews; dislike or fear of Jews and or Jewish things. 2. discrimination against or persecution of Jews.

My definition is a borrowed one... "I'm not exactly sure of how to define it, but I know it when I see it"!

I see it almost every time I read or hear pat buchanan. The Iraq war has NOTHING to do with pat being anti Semitic, but when he discusses it... it pours forth like a fountain. An example is when he was on Scarborough's show, and called the US Congress "Occupied Israeli Territory".

Neo-cons have relentlessly pegged any criticism of the state of Israel as anti-Semitism. It just doesn't follow. Buchanan argues that our American leaders should act in America's interests rather than those of Israel or any other foreign state. That sounds like good old-fashioned patriotism to me. Oh wait, I forgot...true patriotism is never criticizing Republicans.

Pat Buchanan is an antisemitic old school, hate filled maniac who longs for the days when people were forced to work 15 hours a day at the local smoke filled factory.

When those darkies and jooos knew their place and lived on the outskirts of town.

Next time you read a Pat Buchanan article see how many times he mentions the Jooos and/or Israel. I suggest you use pen and paper, the list can get long.

You seem to suggest that American leaders are acting in Israel's interest rather then their own. Care to prove this with some facts or are you, like Pat, content to blame all of our woes on the Israel Lobby or ZOG?

Read the two books I referenced, as they state in no uncertain terms, many things beyond "putting America first". pat has also stated, "I stand behind EVERY word". Every word mind you.

William F. Buckley commented on this very subject concerning pat, in a National Review mag about 15 years ago. This was long before dementia set in on poor William.

Number of times Pat mentions Israel in the current referenced article for this post -zero. Number of times Pat mentions Jews in the current referenced article for this post - zero. Facts to back to up your smears -zero.

Case closed. Sorry you hate Pat Buchanan.

And "darkies"?! You must be English or over the age of 70.

Your 0 for 3 my friend. Let me help you with your reading comprehension...

From the article.

Richard Perle says the administration "got the war right and the aftermath wrong."

Perle is Jewish. He has been smeared as being an anti-American, pro-Israel Hebrew who started the war.(For the benefit of his Jewish brethren in Israel of course) Don't tell me Pat just happened to pick him out randomly?

Michael Ledeen says of Bush's war, "Wrong war, wrong time, wrong way, wrong place

Michael Ledeen, was a founding member of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs. Let's go on shall we?

Pro-war liberal Joe Lieberman.

Another Jew.A New York Jew at that. See a pattern yet?

Oh wait Pat's not done...

And what has Condi's crusade for democracy produced, other than historic gains for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Hamas on the West Bank, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Moqtada al Sadr and the Shia clerics in Iraq?

Just so you know the West Bank, the last time I checked is in Israel.

Like I said, Israel and the Joos 24/7. Old very old.

And "darkies"?! You must be English or over the age of 70

Neither, just trying to speak Pat's language. It's easy to do. I just cut half my brain with a spoon and the rest comes easy.
