Nonsense? I disagree. Let's look at recent history as an example. We have 'progressive' gun laws, aimed at 'protecting the children', but have only succeded in disarming citizens. We will never see them overturned. Now we have 'limits' on free speech, and this will never be returned.
Our politicians are nothing but a pack of lawyers that will twist the word of the law into whatever they decide it is. They no longer care if it's illegal or not, but if they can get away with it and for how long.
During 'times of war' you say? Well, we have The War on Poverty (still fighting it, no end in sight), The War on Drugs (ditto), and now The War on Terror (ditto again). Government will always create an enemy to take the heat off their screwups.

Please add "hate crimes legislation" to your list! In America, we will soon be prohibited from free speech, freedom of religion, and the free expression there of" The entire First Amendment will be up in smoke, except of course for the MSM who's propaganda follows the progressives.
Those laws fall right in line with this proposed legislating of FR and other places people gather to get news the Old Media will not publish.

It isn't happening at the national level but it is happening one state at a time. I think Kansas very recently amended their laws. As a prisoner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I won't get there with you but some thirty odd states are reinstating the rights of their citizens.
