"...but I don't think it has quite gotten to 'an invading army' yet."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What of all the reports of Mexican military personnel assisting drug smugglers on our side of the border and holding Border Patrol at gunpoint?
Just yesterday the story broke of the Mexican Customs officer, in this country illegally, plotting way-points with a GPS.
Given that somewhere between 10 and 12 million are in the USofA ilegally, and an Army Division is about 25000 folks, you could make the invading army point. BUt these are not organized, like an army nor that I know have have a common objective.
Having said all that, we DO need to control our borders - how is an open question.
Harold Coyle (a very good author who does outstanding research) wrote a book, "Trail by Fire" about an invasion from Mexico --while somewhat dated by now, the book does make the point why a border fence make no sense....and what could happen if we place our Army on the border. While not 'Team Yankee', it is a very good read.
