Weird. That's how I feel about dogs and dog people.
Our Simba acts sort of like a dog. He follows me down the street, comes when I call, and throws his body against a door when he wants me to wake me up. He meows when he needs to go out, and sits in a chair when he wants his food!
Plus he kills every RAT in the neighborhood and delivers them "door to door".
He's a doll!

You're absolutely right--it's in the socialization and in not believing that a cat is "just a cat." All of my cats have been "transvestite dogs"--they fetch, come when called, and "dog" my steps. They're better companions, I think, than my dog, who's too eager, even at 16.
Socialization and the need to be close govern behavior. As a kid I had a dog who would climb a tree to sit with me as I read. Really funny sight to see: dog paws hanging down from a tree limb.
The Korat breed predates the Russian Blue by centuries... the modern Korat is virtually unchanged from pictures from the 14th century. They're also, IMHO, more beautiful than the Russian Blue - and easier to maintain, since they have shorter hair (only 1 coat).

Just what we need, another selfish "full time" breeder, churning out hundreds more cats, while millions of healthy loving cats are euthanized every year for lack of homes.

Are you serious? Cat people are the most open honest people you will find. Dog people to me are usually selfish and self centered. They want to be idolozed, always listened to and shown love all the time. They are needy and demand attention and love...and will accept nothing less. That's why they don't like cats...cats are not constantly at your feet saying...."YOU"RE SO GREAT, I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE SO GREAT, I LOVE YOU". In my opinion, the stable people are cat people....they don't need that crap.
