If you ever visit Massachusetts, be sure to visit the Rockwell Museum.

Like most people, my exposure to his art was through calendars, plates and greeting cards.

But I assure you, when you see the original works, they just blow you away. The man had enormous talent, and seeing the original art is breathtaking.

I like it better than 90% of the stuff I have seen in the Museum of Fine Art in Boston.

I just PM'ed somebody almost the exact same message.

Rockwell had a tremendous talent. The "art community" looked down on him strictly because he supported his family as an illustrator. So what? It beats waiting tables while hoping that some foundation or gallery is going to "discover" you . . .

We caught the Rockwell exhibit when it came through Atlanta. You're right - seeing his work in the original is an entirely different matter. The boy was GOOD!

I agree; I have three of his signed lithographs that I bought in the little shop in Sturbridge years ago.

What a wonderful place; it will always be one of my fondest memories. That, and how damn C O L D it was there.
