3/23/2006 - ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (AFPN) -- The man best-known for writing and performing “God Bless the U.S.A.” will entertain U.S. troops in Europe, Southwest Asia and the Pacific from April 5 to 18.

"I am thrilled that Restless Heart, Dick Hardwick, the New England Patriot Cheerleaders and members of the Air Force band have all agreed to accompany me on this tour to entertain our men and women in uniform and show support for their military service around the world,” said Lee Greenwood, world-famous singer and songwriter. His “God Bless the U.S.A.” was certified platinum in 2001.

Joining Mr. Greenwood will be country-rockers Restless Heart, New England Patriot Cheerleaders, comedian Dick Hardwick and musicians from the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band, the Band of the Pacific and the United States Air Force Band.

Called the Patriotic World Tour, the group will perform at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey; Kunsan AB, Korea; Kadena AB and Misawa AB, Japan; Hickam AFB, Hawaii; and at least three deployed locations in Southwest Asia.

“The Patriotic World Tour will put on a show that’s on par with any high-dollar concert tour back home,” said Dave Ballengee, deputy director of the Reserve band. “This Air Force tour group will bring a cargo-plane full of state-of-the-art sound, stage and lighting equipment and will put on a show that our troops will never forget.”

Performing as the opening act for Lee Greenwood, the Air Force bands will play well-known rock-and-roll and contemporary favorites. To help warm up the crowd, the three-time world champion New England Patriots are sending six members of their cheerleading squad to accompany the tour.

“This is our 17th tour and once again I am reminded that freedom isn't free. We all must give, in some way, and it is my sincere privilege, if for just a moment, to bring the music, jokes and glamour of our American culture to those brave hearts who have altered their lives for all of us," said Mr. Greenwood
