[Tennessee] AG: Illegals can rebut over driving issue

NASHVILLE — The state can refuse to issue driving certificates to illegal immigrants, but it must give them an opportunity to object, according to an attorney general's opinion.

The Tennessee Department of Safety stopped issuing the driving certificates to illegal immigrants last month, after federal investigators found rings shuttling in immigrants from other states to get them.

Rep. Frank Buck, D-Dowelltown, called for the opinion from Attorney General Paul Summers because he felt the state violated the Administrative Procedures Act, which he said gives "the public the right of input into the final decision."

"You have to put some kind of notice out there, have public hearings and give people an opportunity to comment about it," Buck said. "I'm sure a Hispanic organization would like to."

In the opinion issued this week, state Attorney General Paul Summers said "agency decisions that affect the rights, privileges or obligations of the public at large constitute rulemaking and the agency would be required to comply with the rulemaking provisions of the Act."

Our AG is a total moron. He's not even elected and the position should be so we can get a decent one instead of a governor picked crony.

Really, this guy is a loon.

Let me get this straight. If an illegal wants to, he can appear as a self-confessed felon to protest not getting a driver's license and not be prosecuted/deported? WTF is WRONG with Liberals?

The problem with liberals is that they have no morals. My uncle always says that if you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on Paul's support. The liberal politicians cater to illegal immigrants because they will vote democrat. In this case they're robbing the tax-payers and spending the money on illegal aliens, prisoners, and everyone else that doesn't pay taxes. They'll do anything to get your vote.
