It IS possible. Microsoft plants stuff in their Windows OS's that phone home to redmond with where the browsers have been.

Most Chinese made PCs come with a pirated version of OSX, anyways. Why couldn't they have fixed it up in some way?

We should NEVER give the Chicoms business like this. In fact, we should EMBARGO them.

Your paranoia is a tad overclocked. PCs that can run OS X, and the Intel version of the OS, are so new that the Chinese haven't had a chance to clone them yet.

The problem is one of supply. Cheap PCs have been made in China for years. Now if you want to go high-end and get a ThinkPad, these now come from Lenovo, another Chinese firm.

The closest you can come to actually buying American is to get an Apple. Those are made in Kiaosiung, Taiwan.

"It IS possible."

Yeah, your right. It is possible to put whatever you like on a machine. It is however, impossible to keep it from being discovered. Having spent 30+ years as a EE and systems engineer I can positively promise you that anything loaded on these machines will be discovered. I can't imagine Lenovo jeopardizing a relationship with a very large market. BTW: IE doesn't phone home to Microsoft.
