Senate conservatives are about dead.
I thank God for the house of representatives.
It seem like when Jesse Helms retired there was no "good cop" to watch over our "conservatives" any more. So they became bad cops themselves. I think the conservatives now number less than a half dozen in the Senate. And I'm not sure I can name that many.
For all practical purposes, the Senate SHOULD be more conservative than the House. There are far more Red states than Blue states, and you would think that this would translate to an advantage in that there are 2 Senators per state as opposed to the more population-based model in the House.
It never seems to work out that way, though.
