Ga. Close to Passing Immigration Changes

ATLANTA -- The Georgia House approved changes to immigration policy Thursday that would deny undocumented residents some state services, and some opponents are planning a one-day work stoppage in protest.

Supporters say the bill, which passed 123-51, is a homeland security measure that frees up state resources for legal residents. Opponents say it unfairly targets workers who are merely responding to the demands of state industries.

The bill, which now heads to the Senate, would deny adult illegal immigrants such things as nonemergency medical care and unemployment benefits. It also would sanction companies that knowingly employ undocumented workers.

This week, the House tacked on a proposal requiring anyone who cannot prove legal U.S. residency to pay a 5 percent surcharge on wire transfers. Immigrants often use wire transfers to send money to relatives back home.

The House also added a provision requiring workers to be checked against federal databases to confirm that they are legally permitted to work.

This protest is great. It is a glimpse of America without illegals. I went to QT this morning for coffee and I didn't have to wait in line behind 30 Spanish speaking illegals. I didn't feel like I had walked into a 3rd world country.

Round up the illegals and get them out of the country. Keep their property as payment for the services they have stolen. Fine and jail all employers who hire illegals. Put a couple of presidents in jail and this will stop over night.

A blub from today's Arkansas Dem/Gaz..

"Jack Martin, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, said an influx of illegal aliens is putting a nation-wide drain on schools.

His organization estimates that schools spend $12 billion annually on educating illegal alien students--$37 million in Arkansas alone.

"That's a cost that never would have arisen if we didn't allow such large numbers of illegal aliens into our country and schools," Martin said.

That is a small price to pay for all the benefits that illegals bring with them. Have you forgotten the price of lettuce will skyrocket without them? :o}

Here's an update for ya'll, I have to drive Jimmy Carter Blvd. to get to work, and I work in Norcross. If you live this side of town you know, but for those who don't, it is all Mexican, traffic was a breeze, no loitering at the Duncan Donuts. I looked around while stopped at a light and actually felt like I lived in the U.S. instead of Mexico City. I don't know this could backfire on them. I'm going shopping at the evil Walmart, which we have nicknamed Meximart, they always have alot of good UGA stuff that the other Walmarts sell out of. Even for one day, it's just like the good ole days!!!!

The Mexican grocers have shut down their stores as well, doesn't really make sense to me because I don't know of anyone that shops at those stores other than they themselves.

If you ever want to feel out of place, go into any QT at lunch, wall to wall using the microwave for food that they made at home.
