Yeah the AP has a very slick way of distorting the truth in these stories and using innuendo to try to make the Bush administration look weak on security when it is not. One key fact that they leave out and many readers miss is that there was NO scanning of containers in the Bahamas during the Clinton Administration. So having a Chinese company scan the containers is much better than no scanning. Also, China is not a significant sponsor of international terrorism. China is very aggressive economically as an exporter, but it isn't a terrorist state like Iran.
This kind of unwarranted fear is unexpected fallout from 9/11--a form of xenophobia. People have to stop reacting to slanted political propaganda from the AP.

This is exactly the kind of mind-chess that China is using that will result in Americans becoming the world's cheap labor market within 50 years, when your most prized possesions will be a rice bowl and bicycle.

You have, very eloquently, nailed it. The MSM has struck again, and from the sounds of it, they've hit another homer.
P.S. Love your tag-line! Great play on words--and this poem is a personal favorite "bit of lit".
