I think you're referring to the Catholic church, I would say yes.
The Catholic church has a long way to go to overcome its Roman idol-worshipping, pagan-istic roots. I think, however, the last Pope was making enormous strides in that direction.
Even if it is just "one hot meal and a single night's shelter"? How about if it's just one wafer during Holy Communion?
