The love of books is the only hobby that is also classed as a mental illness.
Any other confirmed bibliopaths out there?
My only regrets regarding books are the libraries that I no longer have - the first, my adolescent collection anchored by perhaps 1000 of '40s through '60s paperback SF short stories and hard-cover SF novels and anthologies; the second, my university collection(staggeringly large) of philosophy and politics.
As for the third and present inundation, I can only say thank God for banker's boxes!
My lovely bride is a former book-store proprietor and collector. Her library complements mine very well - only two books overlapped amongst thousands! ;^)
Thanks for the warning. I hung onto my entire university liberal arts degree collection of books until a few weeks ago. I parted with a few to show I'm not permanently obsessed. I may regret this in the future, though, so will hang on to the rest of the collection for awhile. I donate books to the library sale, and yes, I do sometimes buy a few of my own back.
