Believe me, we've been thinking about it, and we understand the issue from all sides.

Yes, the Europeans did invade an American continent they saw as essentially empty, except for a few Native Americans.

But this was not unique to Anglos coming from the east. This was also true for the Spanish coming from the south. It's a fairy tale that the Indians of the Southwest greeted the Spanish conquistadors as long-lost bronze-skinned brothers. The first contact Coronado had with the Indians in New Mexico was when he burned hundreds of them alive after some horses were stolen. The Spanish conquered the Southwest by the lash and the lance.

After Mexican independence, the Southwest was too far away for Mexico City to control or even worry about. The Southwest was only nominally "Mexican" for about 20 years. Mexico couldn't send troops or defend New Mexicans (which included present Arizona) from Apache and Comanche raids, for example. Haciendas were burned, Spanish (never "Mexicans!") were massacred. The New Mexicans had no love for distant and powerless Mexico City, which could neither trade with them, nor protect them.

Meanwhile, America drew closer. Wagon trains bringing trade goods set off a booming economy between St. Louis and Santa Fe. America brought security and a higher standard of living to New Mexico (including Arizona then) as well as California and Texas, after 2 decades of feckless Mexican non-authority and neglect.

So yes, we do understand the history involve.

Please spare me the "Aztlan" fairy tales.

I have no problems believing that you do, but some on these threads do not. Europeans, as we've seen even today, have a different view of what the right thing to do.

As for sparing you the *Atzlan* fairy tale, it isn't my fairy tale. However, it is the fairy tale of many folks that will do whatever they can to see the takeover of America.

Unlike terrorists that would like to bring America to her knees through violence, these illegal aliens have brought America almost to our knees with one child, baby, woman, and man at a time. To me, this is equally dangerous.

I will probably differ from many folks on this board, but I see no way around a violent conflict to save this country. As with the War On Terror, I'm not one to care about winning the hearts or souls of those that cause us harm.

This whole situation just grieves me on so many different levels.

Good, concise history lesson of the American Southwest.

FYI, I posted this on Protest Warrior.

It's time that real Americans started to shake off their torpor and realize that their birth right is being sold off by our feckless politicians to people who have no desire to see this country prosper.

I don't know if you've read about it, but there's a similar problem over in Long Island, which is being besieged by day laborers.

The locals have been protesting this for years, and are finally starting to see some action.

However, they're still demonized as "racists" and "xenophobes" for wanting to protect their property, the real estate that they pay exorbitant property taxes for each year.

Very good accounting of how it really was. Like I just posted - If we Europeans had not taken this empty continent the Chinese would have and with far less mercy than than the Spanish. The Anglos were less brutal than the Spanish and Portuguese.

But be careful because "empty continent" really means America and Canada. Indians in Mexico and Central America were far more numerous. That's why we are being invaded today by semi-Indians and Indians from there. Just look at that Indian who is now president of Bolivia. And Hugo Chavez is Indian and Black mixture and hates the "Anglo" United States and will work with the Chinese to ruin us
