This sounds similar to the pregnant woman here in AZ who was fined for driving in the HOV lane. She insisted that she was "carpooling" and that her pending baby was a passenger.

She took her case to court...and lost. Mainly, because her baby-to-be did not take up an extra seat in the car.

Then should she have been fined for having another passenger on her lap?

I knew a pregnant woman in Michigan who was speeding on a two lane highway, trying to get to a store or gas station where she could have a rest stop.

She got a ticket.

She went to court, and pled her case before the judge, saying that she was pregnant and that it is harmful to a baby if the mother holds her bladder for too long.

The judge was annoyed, but let the woman off. It pays to be pregnant in his jurisdiction. (Or have a husband who is a partner at a big Detroit lawfirm.)
