Well I am glad she is reunited. I hope she gets the psychological counseling she needs. And of course now she will have to go thru the trial of the guy that abducted and held her for 10 years.
Prayers go out for this woman and her family!

I think there's plenty more to this story although we may never hear about it. If she wasn't forcibly confined, if she was in a bedroom (I've never seen a BR w/o windows), something doesn't smell right in this story.

I wonder what Tanya Brawley is doing these days.

It's just so sad for the girl and her family.

And yet today we have judges who think it's perfectly alright for those in authority to have criminal conduct with minors.

The attorney said there was no indication that Kach had been abducted or kidnapped.

Yeah, the Hoser's attorney says that.

I'm reading this strange story and thinking, gee, it doesn't sound like she's quite all there. Which could explain why she was compliant, and did exactly what she was told by people who had no right to tell her to do anything.

..." It was not immediately clear how she ended up at the home."

Sometimes it is so hard to understand the in's and out's of life.

I can see it now
"Hi Mom, Hi Dad"
"Son, who is that 14 year old girl with you?"

"Oh, she just needs a place to stay for a bit, I know her from working at the school, her parents are mean."

"Oh, OK , but she can't stay for more than, say, ten yeas."

"OK Mom, you are the best."

This guys is how old and still living at home, where are the parents (not the gilrls, the guys) in all this???

Okay, am I the only one who is puzzled by this: She was discovered Tuesday when she approached a convenience store owner and told him that she wasn't Nikki Evans, the name the owner knew her by.

If she was locked in a bedroom for 10 years why does this convenience store owner know her by a false name?

I volunteer to shoot the guy myself. As I understand it, the guy was a janitor or security guard at her JUNIOR HIGH when she was 14. She apparently didn't have the best home situation, and the guy convinced her one day that her parents really didn't want her around anymore. He took her home with him and kept her as a prisoner for several years. They were discussing some of the things he did on the radio this morning, including forcing her to memorize which boards squeaked in the floor so she wouldn't make any noise and alert other people in the house to her presence. This 14 year old girl was used as his personal sex toy for years, and during her imprisonment he completely dominated her world and beat her into a submissive role. Once he started letting her out, it took 6 years for his mental domination of her to fade enough for her to make an escape.

As someone else pointed out, it's the Elizabeth Smart case all over again, only this girl wasn't lucky enough to be rescued. Teenage girls are VERY easy to dominate, especially ones that have shaky lives to start with, and this guy basically brainwashed her into submission.

I have a daughter who is nearly the age this girl was when she was taken. I can't put into words what I would do to someone who tried this with my daughter...it would be the stuff of horror novels.
