I was thinking of the guy who the FBI did search warrants on and arrested a couple of family members for corruption. Used a county own chopper to get to LAX, Hispanic dude who had been a PD lieutenant in a neighboring jurisdiction?

But, are they all hat and no cowboy?

Nope. Most are New York Democrats. They don't even know what a cowboy looks like.

Thank God we kicked the Knicks butt tonight. They just get insufferable.

Come to think of it, maybe illegal Mexicans wouldn't be worse ;-)

I think what this candidate is saying is that he will "employ" more DS. That does not say move from other positions.

See, I don't get that. Armstrong, and I don't have any feelings for the guy one way or another, has pulled a page from his current boss, Sheriff Parker for his campaign.

Streamline, budget, cops back on the street, yada, yada, yada. Positions were cut, and for fear of lawsuits they were all offered dispatch jobs (lol!) and deputies were put back on the street. Parker's campaign cronies were rewarded with command staff positions and BCSO is now a backwater once again. Heaven forbid something ever going down at KSC.

But, anyhow, that's what Armstrong is saying. Trust me - unless he specifically says he's hiring, he will get more deptuties on the street initially by dissolving units, cutting staff and putting folks back on patrol.

I see from your about page you may like to shoot. Shoot me an email if you'd like to go sometime. I have an assortment to choose from :-)

Unfortunately, I went tonight and my G29 started doing light strikes. Either that or the last 9 rounds were all bad :-(

Speaking of Bill Armstrong and Armoured Vehicles, he got Seminole County Sheriff an Armored Car, that can withstand an RPG round, its about as safe as an M-1A1 Tank.

This vehicle would be safe on the streets of Baghdad, complete with V hull and anti mine protection.

He got it Free from the Army and had it overhauled at the Orange County VoTech Center.

Total cost of it running and in service with a Brand New Diesel overhaul, about $11,000.

I don't know why anybody would think the Hummer is a good vehicle for SWAT, you cannot carry any body in it, the Transmission is at your Waist, and very uncomfortable to drive.

To answer you question on Malone Stewart, I had heard from a "source" that he will not run.

But you know how that goes, at this point nobody knows who else is going to run, until they go down and register as a candidate.

Did a bit of digging, re: Corona's Assistant Sheriff Jarmillio.
He not only gets indicted following an FBI investigation, but they found 'purported' love letters to his sister in law in his computer.

All three punks were recently sentenced, but with time served will get out in a few years - they should have gotten the death penalty in my opinion.

Do you think this new Sheriff will do something about the rash of crimes in Orlando. 20 murders total in 2005, at least 20 murders so far this year, 2006. When is the election? We've had a missing person case going on since January, 24th, and no new clues because there is not enough officers on the case or just OPD is working on it, I don't know. Citizens are talking about the case at http://flfiesta.com/forum. All the details are at http:FindJenniferKesse.com

I will bring this to the attention of Bill, he has been aware of a certain laxness, and this could be part of it.

Example the home invasions in Windemere, you may have heard, this is in the County, so the Sheriff had one invasion and then one or two nights later in the same area, another.

This type of crime should have been followed by TOTAL SATURATION PATROLS in the Area for at least a week.

There does not seem to be an direction to what is happening at OCS.

Will check the web site you mentioned.

I admit have always liked Kevin Beary, but now, I don't know what to think. I don't know if the entire blame should be placed on him or if it is growth. I am not in the law enforcement field at all, which could be why. I know he means well, but think he needs to retire.

I had no idea of TOTAL SATURATION patrols which makes so much sense.

What about Jennifer Kesse and the Texas/Americana intersection. THAT Place is a totally crime ridden area. Crimes continued RIGHT AFTER Jennifer's disappearance, even at least 2 murders and no one down there is "talking". Nobody cares about what happened to Jennifer and it is so frustrating to me to think it may be our law enforcement's fault. I know the case is being overseen by Orlando Police Department and 4 detectives are assigned to the case. I feel like they need to go down there and really shake things up in the area, but so many other people, especially volunteers who recently joint childwatch do not think it would be effective. They are AFRAID to offend anyone down there. What is going on that we are afraid to approach criminal elements to get answers. Let's face it right now, that that area has always for decades been a crime infested area, full of ILLEGALS personified, flop houses not a mile from the "strip" SOBT.

The Kesse family have NO CHOICE but to SUPPORT the police, media and volunteers because they are all they have at this point. They HAVE to surrender to them for help.

Bill, while at Orange County Sheriff, was Commander of a Special Street Crime Unit and was very successful.

The lack of Law Enforcement presence on Patrol, presents what he calls Crimes of Opportunity.

In other words, if you see a Sheriff on Patrol, in the neighborhoods and side streets cruising along at 5 to 10 mph, and see them often, in that area.

Criminals leave and go somewhere else, it works everytime it's tried.

I know the area down there and it is a "hot" zone.

There might be ways to deal with it, it might take a little cooperation between, Police, Sheriff, and possibly having a Saturation Patrol down there for a few weeks to see if anything breaks.

This probably should have been done from the GitGo, but OPD could be working it another way, we don't know.
