Man in custody as package checked at White House
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man was taken into custody after he was seen throwing a suspicious package over the White House fence on Wednesday, the Secret Service said.
Tom Mazur, spokesman for the Secret Service, said a similar incident had occurred before. Officials were proceeding with bomb investigating procedures as a precaution though past incidents have not involved explosives.
President George W. Bush was not at the White House at the time and the grounds were not evacuated.
