two carrier groups would make that a costly idea for the Chinese.....and chances are we would be sending more than 2 carrier groups to the region...
After 2008, when Ma Ying-jeou becomes elected Taiwanese president (if he runs that is), the threat of Taiwanese independence will be gone. Potential for conflict in Taiwan will be greatly reduced. No one wants war, most certainly not the Taiwanese. They stand the most to lose.
