An individual doing harm to society will eventually be processed out by being driven out or imprisoned. Corporations are powerful enough to insulate themselves against such action.

Arthur Anderson was prosecuted. They were not powerful enough to insulate themselves against such action. You were wrong.

Moreover, their shareholders didn't face prosecution for the wrongs commited on their behalf.

And you think shareholders should face prosecution?

"And you think shareholders should face prosecution?"

Yes. They should have legal liability for the actions of the business in which they are part-owners, as well as being subject to civil actions not limited to the value of their holdings in the company. Other business owners are not above the law. For what reason should a share-holder be?

Removes 'buyer beware', from the game, as well as individual responsibility. Shareholders would be much more concerned with the governance of the corporation, bringing it back into ethical harmony with society.

Once again. Arthur Anderson was only prosecuted after it became apparent that they had harmed a corporate entity. Their wrongs towards society, or the individuals that comprise it, were of no apparent concern to government before that point.
