The enemies of this nation don't really require individuals within our government to do their spying for them, they have the ACLU. Whenever those tin foil hat wearing imbeciles catch a rumor in the air, they file Freedom of Information Act documents to convince some chowder headed judge that the people's right to know trumps national security.

I'd hate to ask the ACLU for help, but if She Who Must Not Be Named is elected, they could turn out to be our best friends. Well those "Friends" don't read the Constitution very closely. The national organization has declared that "Right of the People" means "power of the states", at least in Amendment II. For some reason they don't read those same words "right of the people" to have anything to do with the states when reading Amendment IV.

"So what happens when President Hillary identifies Free Republic as a potential terrorist threat and opens up FBI files on individual FReepers?"
At some time in the future we will indeed all have FBI (if not Bureau of Internal Security) dossiers. What that will mean to us as individuals will be a nearly complete loss of privacy.
If not worse.

"...they could turn out to be our best friends."
Truly do not think so. Those people are "democratic centralists" as Lenin put it. Either they will be a part of the government - even Chekists - or they will share the fate of the Czarist Social Revolutionaries.
