I had a Civics teacher in high school that made us memorize the entire Constitution. Not word-for-word, but we just had to know what each part did.

I remember to this day, for example, that the 17th Amendment made Senators popularly elected in all of the states instead of being picked by the state legislatures.

The passage of the 17th was a very bad thing IMO.
