Certain posters who are pretending to be conservatives always take a negative and "more conservative" position than the President. Always. Iraq war? Not killing enough Muslims fast enough. Tax cuts? Not enough or what about spending? Supreme Court? Well these two guys are ok but Harriet Miers, Harriet Miers, Harriet Miers. Standing up to the UN? Not good enough...withdraw now!

See how this goes? In real life there aren't people like that who are more conservative on every issue. A person who was a far-right conservative might not like Bush's position on spending or African aid, but would praise him for the tax cuts and standing up to the UN.

When I see someone who is 100% more conservative than the President on everything, I think it is someone trying to portray a disgruntled conservative on the internet. Whatever is being discussed, Bush didn't perform in a conservative enough way, period. This is a sign of a democrat troll, if you ask me. Even the Buchanan people like a few things the President did, llike the steel tarriffs, for example.

Nope...I am thinking these people are frauds and imposters.

Pffft. That is absolutely a ridiculous statement, aaaaaand I am not alone in thinking you 100% wrong.

The President was firm, in control, relaxed, and humorous.

Now Miss Marple, you know you asked me this the other day and I responded.

Let me add a few things I did not mention in my response the other day. George Bush responded to an attack on the USA on 911. Scumbag failed to respond to the USS Cole attack in 2000, and to multiple attacks on the USA throughout the 1990s, from the WTC in 1993 through the Embassy bombings and many others, and Scumbag never even gave bin Laden a response after bin Laden declared was on the USA in 1995. You don't get a more striking difference between Scumbag (and the RAT apathy toward national security) than this simple comparison.

I also was thrilled when Condi Rice was brought into the admin for the simple fact she was a Russian expert. I dreamed of Russia and the USA becoming very close and even allies. That extreme did not materialize yet, but at least we have had decent relations.

The best thing about Bush is Laura and George are just so damn nice and good decent people, where as Scumbag and Scumbagette were like cancerous, slimy slugs.

As to legislation, I find it impossible to latch onto anything positive, since the budgets have been so expansionary in social welfare.

It should not be the purpose of a conservative activist to "find areas to praise President Bush on." Conservative activists should spend their time watching the radar scope and shooting down all "bogeys" that appear, such as leftist legislation, new entitlements, etc. Conservatism is not a "RAT or GOP" thing or a "Bush thing". Conservative, limited government agenda is what it is. Agendas and proposals and spending, etc. are either conservative or socialist, and party representation should have anything to do with one's pro or con opinion on it.

Should Scumbagette be elected in 2008 and slice the budget drastically and eliminate a lot of Bush's spending increases, I will be thrilled as a conservative, even though Scumbagette will always be a slimy two-faced POS.

Likewise, even though I love Laura and George, I hate the anti-conservative agenda. I am simply a conservative, Miss Marple.

..why lately on FR there are a bunch of DU Trolls that just impose themselves on good threads spewing negativity?

I notice that too.

On almost every thread, I must read through four or five 'hate-Bush' posts just to get to one post which says something mildly nice.

People forget that Bush took an economy (in 2001) in recession, turned it around and made it into the envy of the world (once again), all while fighting a very expensive global military/intelligence struggle against crazy Islamo-terrorists .... while at the same time battling financial foes (many of our supposed friends in Old Europe) who were attempting to destroy the US dollar.

Dont forget the mini oil crunch which sent crude energy prices thru the moon.

All in all, Bush has done a decent job of putting the ka-bash on those same Muslim terror producing countries (Libya, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc) which Clinton lazily allowed to grow and morph into a worldwide threat.

Yes, GWB has his quirky moments (Harriet Miers, Dubai port, education funding largess) but in totality he has been a tremendous President given the trauma of our time.

If Clinton or Gore were in office, they would still be fiddlin' around with ozone tables and the like, while head-chopping Muslim terror-mongers everywhere continued to build more and more power, if not outright NUKE capacity.

Do you hear me cheering you? Very well said!

Truth be told many of them sound like my cannot-be-reasoned-with-on anything, never satisfied with anything, liberal sister-in-law.

Q Mr. President, I'd like to ask you for your reaction on the latest insurgent attack in Baghdad: 17 police officers killed and a bunch of insurgents freed. I spent a fair amount of time in front of that hotel in Cleveland yesterday, talking to people about the war and saying you were there to talk optimistically. And one woman who said she voted for you, said, "You know what, he's losing me. We've been there too long; he's losing me." What do you say to her? THE PRESIDENT: I say that I'm talking realistically to people. We have a plan for victory and it's important we achieve that plan. Democracy -- first of all, this is a global war on terror and Iraq is a part of the war on terror. Mr. Zarqawi and al Qaeda, the very same people that attacked the United States, have made it clear that they want to drive us out of Iraq so they can plan, plot, and attack America again. That's what they have said; that's their objective. I think it is very important to have a President who is realistic and listens to what the enemy says. Secondly, I am confident -- I believe, I'm optimistic we'll succeed. If not, I'd pull our troops out. If I didn't believe we had a plan for victory I wouldn't leave our people in harm's way. And that's important for the woman to understand. Thirdly, in spite of the bad news on television -- and there is bad news. You brought it up; you said, how do I react to a bombing that took place yesterday -- is precisely what the enemy understands is possible to do. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't talk about it. I'm certainly not being -- please don't take that as criticism. But it also is a realistic assessment of the enemies capability to affect the debate, and they know that. They're capable of blowing up innocent life so it ends up on your TV show. And, therefore, it affects the woman in Cleveland you were talking to. And I can understand how Americans are worried about whether or not we can win. I think most Americans understand we need to win. But they're concerned about whether or not we can win. So one of the reasons I go around the country, to Cleveland, is to explain why I think we can win. And so I would say, yes, I'm optimistic about being able to achieve a victory, but I'm also realistic. I fully understand the consequences of this war. I understand people's lives are being lost. But I also understand the consequences of not achieving our objective by leaving too early. Iraq would become a place of instability, a place from which the enemy can plot, plan and attack. I believe that they want to hurt us again. And, therefore, I know we need to stay on the offense against this enemy. They've declared Iraq to be the central front and, therefore, we've got to make sure we win that. And I believe we will.

LOL. I have no doubt I am not alone, but I do not need the affirmation of others to recognize the truth.

You need only compare a typical Reagan press conference with this one by Pres Bush to know that what I say is true.

I saw the Helen Thomas thing. Perhaps you have not the experience I have with watching world class leaders interacting with an audience.

A better handling of HT would have been to use wit to put her in her place, but he used none. He merely stammered about.

I do think HT should be banned from these conferences since she was so rude. She thinks by being rude she is some sort of pro-peace crusader? she is nuts...

So you would be thrilled with Hillary's cuts to the military and her raising taxes to pay for socialized medicine?...and you have a screen name like yours!! Too funny!!

OOh, I see. You are a "conservative activist" who sees your role as to bitch about everything those "nice people" George and Laura Bush do. (Patronizing in the extreme.)

Well, I am a Republican and an American, and a normal person who understands the budget and legislative process and politics. And I understand that the battle we are in is with the DEMOCRATS, not George Bush.

You can't praise ANY legislation, not even the TAX CUTS? How about the spending to strengthen the military?

"Conservative activists" like you spend all your time in an unrelenting negative attack on people who are doing their best, while you don't say much at all about the treachery of the democrats.

I sure hope the conservative movement doesn't have too many people like you, because your attitude is so off-putting it will be converting people to the moderate position in droves.
