In truth, we should be slamming him too, when slamming is warranted. Failing to close the borders, failing to bring spending back under control, failing to adequately communicate policy decisions (such as the ports fiasco) are examples. But this "fearmonger" nonsense is right out of the RAT playbook. Perhaps he's heard the lie so often he believes it, or perhaps the lamestream media has MISQUOTED him.

I thought Gibson was a Conservative. It's a shame that my favorite male actor is a lib.

The author of this article SUCKS as a writer - I can tell you right now that whoever wrote it pulled a statement by Gibson in response to a particular question and wrote it out of context. This is an attempt by some snot-nosed pseudo-writer with an axe to grind to color the reader's perception. Until I see the entire interview written out as it had occured, I refuse to believe that Gibson would say something like this without a reason behind it. It may well be that Mel has some gripes about President Bush, but if theres anyone 'fearmongering' here, its the prissy little whelp that wrote this blurb.

Pukes like this one do this to other actors all the time - Russell Crowe comes to mind.

I feel like I am in the twilight zone. I can't believe that some of you call yourselves Christians. This is just funny. Poor Mel with friends like you who needs enemies. What hypocrites. I cannot believe you are the same folks who were just complaining about how President Bush was selling our ports. Do you really look at yourselves in the mirror in the morning? I am sorry I was trying to be patient and trying to understand the fuss, but talk about casting stones. MEL GIBSON the guy you honored like the Sacred Cow says one sentence that could have been taken out of context and now it is let's boycott Mel Gibson...I am in awe!!!!! Come on with the flames. You guys prove that if you say something in diagreement you are written off. Well I am giving Mel the benefit of doubt, too bad you guys can't. To be honest, I am ashamed of some of you so called Christians. I am too!!!! Boy am I in for it. I hope I can sleep tonight with the flames coming my way.

After his courage of producing his 'Passion of the Christ,' Mel Gibson needs to apologize to no one for political viewpoints which happen disagree with George Bush.

Sheesh -- It's not as though he trashed the President like the Dixie Chicks, yet some Freepers are quite willing to toss Gibson over a cliff anyway??

What is this place becoming?

Porn markets to it's audience without regard to Christians. Hollywood markets to an audience regardless of Christian beliefs. Why is anybody surprised? There is money to be made without the Christian dollar.

Gibson has always been eye candy but seeing him in interviews after The Passion was released - I had to wonder about his mind. He was rather a loose disjointed cannon. He has made some great entertaining movies in the past but now he seems to think of himself as a guru.

What do we know about Mel from his journey to make "The Passion"?

He's a man of his own mind and convictions, he speaks freely and without fear and with little regard for what anyone else thinks of him.

Why is anyone surprised about him doing just that again?

In one of Mel's tv interviews after the release of Passion he made a joke regarding WMD's.
I can't exactly remember how it went...but I was left with the impression that he felt let down by the fact we were all assured the wmds were there - and a sound reason for war.

I'm not sure why anyone would assume that because Gibson is a staunch Catholic he would be supportive of everything George W. Bush does. It's kind of weird how all Christians get lumped into one big belief system-hey, Mel likes Jesus, he must like George Bush too, right?

The Catholic church is pacifist and opposed to the war in Iraq. Not surprised to hear that Gibson may be as well.

As an Evangelical Christian who was "supposed to" like the Passion, I did not like the movie very much. I thought it was at points silly (e.g. the scene where Jesus the carpenter was shown to have invented the table/chair combination), and was melodramatic at the expense of being thought-provoking.

I thought Mel would be immune to the I-have-a-movie-set-to-release-so-I'll-bash-bush-for-free-press-and-to-appeal-to-lefty-movie-reviewers syndrome. I guess he's of that ilk, after all.
