I really resent your calling people who help at food banks white liberals, like it is some sort of negative thing. My father (retired) worked at the Baton Rouge food bank, helping distribute food to Baton Rouge area churches that were housing Katrina victims. He died of a heart attack after spending all day in the hot sun unloading a truck full of donated items. I never got to see him alive one last time. He was no liberal. BTW, all of the people that were housed at the churches in Baton Rouge were encouraged to find homes and moved out of the church shelters. The fema shelters are still housing evacuees who will probably be with them forever.
- My intent was to demean and ridicule white liberals. BTW some of my best friends are white liberals.
- I too have labored long and hard in voluntary charity ... but not so much forcing the taxpayers to pay from my sense of Christian calling.
- I agree with you that there is a big difference between a disaster situation such as Katrina and chronic visits for handouts.
- I didn't intend to demean your family. I strongly support VOLUNTARY charity.
