"I was watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition tonight. It was about a fellow from Jamaica who lived in Florida. The poor guy has cancer bless his heart. His kids were very well spoken and very bright. None of them said "axed" or "see what I'm saying...It just struck me that for a change the "black kids" on this TV show tonight were extremely well spoken."

That's just the issue. When you meet blacks from the Caribbean or Africa who have come here, they often have very negative opinions of "native" blacks in this country. These immigrants work for what they have, offer no excuses, and generally do well for themselves.

Conversely... African Americans do NOT consider blacks from the Caribbean to be "like them". They do discriminate.

To me, it is foolish. My grandparents were Canadian... were they "less caucasian" become they came from Ontario, instead of Boston?
