Durbin: Dems Want GIs Home ASAP

Repeatedly pressed by "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace to reveal his party's Iraq war plan, Sen. Dick Durbin's answer was that Democrats want to bring the troops home as soon as possible. Wallace quoted President Jimmy Carter's national security advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, as having accused the Democrats, "his own party, of political desertion on Iraq. "Democratic leaders have been silent or evasive. They have not offered an alternative to the war in Iraq. It's easy to criticize," Brzezinski said, according to Wallace, who then asked Durbin: "You talk about the lack of an administration plan. What is the Democratic plan? And be specific. What's the Democratic plan for Iraq?" "I'll be very specific," replied Durbin, D-Ill. "But I can tell you, to start with, failed policies such as the one we have in Iraq gives us few options. And we understand that. We've been painted into a corner in this situation." When Wallace countered that with, "Well, that's criticism, sir. What is your plan?" Durbin waffled, saying "Well, hold on, if you will, please. What we propose and what Senator John Warner accepted as a bipartisan approach in the Senate includes the following. This year, 2006, a year of transition, where the Iraqis take control of their own security and defense. "Secondly, the Iraqis are put on notice they have to form a government that embraces all of the factions within Iraq so that we can see finally a government of unity leading to some sort of progress for the people of Iraq. "And finally, we have to have from this president accountability, clear accountability, where he says every three months what progress is being made. His first report, incidentally, was not an encouraging one.

Republicans want the troops home as well;however, "as soon as possible" isn't now. Wish the Dems would get over themselves, they're revolting.

We Democrats believe that assuming the fetal position would be the most effective strategy in both Iraq and the more general War on Terror. It protected all of us from harm when we were in our most vulnerable months of life and it will protect us now. The Republicans don't know what they're talking about when they say that we don't have a national defense strategy.

Exactly right -

With that said it is beyond time for the GOP (in the House and Senate) to stand up and fully support our CIC ...without any "buts" associated to their comments.

It is time for the GOP leadership to call the DEM's out in plain and simple english. It is time for the GOP to fully stand behind SecDef Rumsfeld and call out the DEM's who are calling for him to be fired.

I watched this interview. Wallace said "most Americans want the troops home" and little Dick Durbin concurred. There was no mention of victory in the entire interview.

OK! Bring them home Turbin, but not before there's been a

very large florescent "X" spray painted on the roof of

every democrats residence both in their home state and

Washington so next time the terrorists want to fly planes

into a building, they'll know which ones to aim for and

hit.

If the debate were fairly stated, it would be "when should we bring the troops home, now or when the job is finished?" but unfairly charecterizing the Republicans is what the Democrats and their MSM lapdogs do best.

Why does Durbin want the troops home? Doesn't he think they are all Nazis, Gulag-like, and Pol Pot wannabes? i mean, that IS what he said.

"We Democrats believe that assuming the fetal position would be the most effective strategy in both Iraq and the more general War on Terror. "

It seems to me that even the fetal position is not safe when dems are around. Abortionists take babies from fetal position to corpse in a matter of seconds!

We Dem's feel perfectly safe in the fetal position because the Islamists, unlike us, don't believe in killing the unborn. Our only danger is to ourselves and we wouldn't dream of depriving the world of us.

Yup. The more they talk this way, the longer it takes and the more people die. But they don't care. It's just politics as usual for these treasonous bastards.
