"Upstate New York" is virtually the whole big state of New York, except for New York City and Long Island, give or take. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upstate_New_York#The_ambiguous_definition_of_.22Upstate_New_York.22

While I hate to see any jobs lost, 34,800 in five years (6960 per year) in this big state doesn't seem like a large amount. Some cities and areas are harder hit than others, and some cities are seeing rebirth through the efforts of entrepreneurs and creative city governments.

As much as I do not want to see Hillary re-elected, she is in my western NY location continually, often working on links between universities and businesses for creation of high tech jobs. Maybe her participation is a mere photo op, but she's visible here and that will get her votes (not mine.)

You are right, she will have no trouble getting re-elected there. They will forget any promises she made.

Could you name some? :)
