At the time I wondered how the Taliban was able to destroy those statues. I am no demolition expert but I know that when a building is to be demolished it is all very exact, the right amount of explosives have to be placed in the right spots, etc. Demolition involves complex engineering. About the only "engineering" the Taliban are capable of is beheading people and shooting prisoners point-blank with Kalashnikovs. It figures foreigners were eager to help the Taliban in their destructive task.
