My hometown paper and Andrew's as well (Bellmore Life) has turned into a Dem rag in a very traditional Rebublican town.

I was just catching up on looking at the past few week issues. There's an editorial from March 8 "A Campaign Speech I'd LIke to Hear".

It sounds like a child's Utopian dream until it gets to thinly veiled Bush bashing.
"I want a government that does not spy on me. 'Big Brother..."
"I don't want pre-emptive war...."
"I don't want a government that falsely uses these ideals [liberty and democracy] to gain support for a questionable war."

Then it ends with a quote from Gandhi about getting change. In my son's junior high (Grand Ave.) they are trying to make them pacifist in a TIME of WAR. A Columbine education day (Rachael's Challenge was culminated by a film on Gandhi).

I want to correct which issue of Bellmore Life had the above editorial. It was March 1. The March 8th issue has an article entitled "Peter King Gets Low Ratings".

This is an attack on our very great Congressman Peter King who is head of the Homeland Security Committee in the house. They are attacking him on environmental issues. It seems to go along with the Harry Reed/Dean play-book posted on Drudge today. There is a plan to attack all the policies of President Bush after the congress breaks.

I seldom even hear the "Mr.", varm... it's invariably just "Bush."

I called our local paper when they called the president "Mister" in a headline when he had come to LI a few years ago. They said it was written by a supporter of the president. The hard left turn they have taken would not support that in my view.

The local paper also ran for 2 weeks straight an article called "Forum on Iraq" sponsored by The Merrick-Bellmore Democratic Club.

Get the names of the groups speaking:

Interfaith Alliance (they will talk on the morality of war)
Long Island Alliance for Peaceful Alternatives (they will talk about activities around LI during Peace Week)
Nassau Greens (an Iraq War Vet)
Democracy Now short film (War & Peace as done by the media)

This is Peace Week? Who knew? Who the H*ll are these people?

I'm still listening. I think Ali went to Mass. I've been doing a search on my local Republicans. I'm finding the local Rats are all over the net. Not my Pubs. Sad. I don't know how to do web design etc. but the local Pubs had better get with the program.
