After spending 30 minutes with the VFW's on the corner of College and Mulberry, it was time to change locations and get ready for the parade.
Since we were there before most of the protesters arrived, they mistakenly thought we were part of their group.
You would think seeing the American flag being flown high and proud would have given it away, but it didn't. When we explained that the anti-American group is meeting on the other side of the street, they were irritated that we called them "out" as being America haters. They really believe they can be against EVERYTHING this Country stands for, give aid and comfort to the enemy, and undermine the war effort in every way, but somehow still insist that they "support the troops."
"Congressmen Americans who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged."(Abraham Lincoln)
I hope President Lincoln doesn't mind me adjusting his quote just a little!
Every Saturday, whenever there's a particularly great sequence of honkings for our Support Our Troops rally, I shout as loudly as I can, "U! S! A!" - just to remind the other side of the street which side we are on!
